In Our Gallery
The Willmar Education and Arts Center, located in what was once the Willmar Senior High School, is a facility for both community arts events and the Willmar Public Schools district office. The building houses an art exhibition gallery and a 750-seat performance auditorium. Over the past 25 years continual efforts have been made to improve the facility for arts related purposes. A rehearsal hall, green room, and a performance shell for the stage with a state of the art sound system make it a welcoming venue for performances. The gallery space, located in the lobby area, is used for showcasing works by students of the Willmar Public Schools from February through May and exhibitions arranged by the Willmar Area Arts Council June through January.
We are pleased to announce that we have hung our first exhibit this year. The exhibit is “A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words by John Kellen. John says, “This exhibit not only showcases my photography, the images portray the story of my mother’s journey with Alzheimers and our travels searching to create peak life experiences while we are still able.” WEAC is closed to the public right now, but we have the exhibit available virtually below. The exhibit will be up until the end of October, so there is a good chance the building will open before then and you will be able to view the show in person.
